As noted in the publication, Iranian-backed Iraqi armed groups launched dozens of explosive drones towards Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries during more than five weeks of fighting. Drones launched from Iraq attacked the only civilian airport in Kuwait.
In addition, armed groups also attacked facilities of Persian Gulf countries in Iraq, including the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra and the United Arab Emirates consulate in Kurdistan.
This conflict unfolds against the backdrop of a war that the US and Israel launched against Iran in late February. Iran itself has launched thousands of drones and missiles at its Arab neighbors in the Persian Gulf, as well as at Israel and American bases throughout the region.
