Russian milbloggers criticized the failures of Russian air defense immediately after a successful Ukrainian strike campaign on Russia's oil and defense industrial infrastructure. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), informs UNN.
Details
It is noted that a well-known Russian milblogger published an alleged message from a Russian air defense serviceman, claiming that Ukrainian forces were able to strike the port of Ust-Luga because Russian air defense did not have enough surface-to-air missiles to defend against many strike vehicles, which led to the overloading of Russian air defense.
The report also accuses inspectors of the Russian Air Force and Air Defense Forces of being more concerned with the appearance of the air defense units they inspect than with their effectiveness. A Kremlin-affiliated Russian milblogger stated that the Leningrad Oblast's April 17 announcement of the start of recruiting reservists for mobile fire groups is belated but reasonable.

It is indicated that, according to the milblogger, these groups are becoming increasingly important due to the shortage of air defense systems in Russia. He also called on these Russian mobile fire groups to intercept as many Ukrainian long-range drones as possible near the front line.
"Russian Federation entities are only beginning to seriously respond to Ukrainian long-range strikes and have not yet learned the lessons of previous Russian air defense failures or Russia's own strike campaign against Ukrainian infrastructure. It is unclear how successfully Russia will defend its defense industrial and oil infrastructure from Ukrainian strikes, given Russia's need to cover vast territories and dispersed assets with air defense systems, and Russian armed forces have so far taken only limited measures to actually mitigate these strikes," ISW summarizes.
Recall
On the night of April 18, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit four important facilities of the Russian oil refining industry at once. The Novokuibyshevsky and Syzransky oil refineries in Russia's Samara region, the RPK-Vysotsk Lukoil-2 oil loading terminal in the Leningrad region, and the Tikhoretsk oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region were hit.
