The Tbilisi City Court sentenced former Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze to 10 years in prison in a case of abuse of power and legalization of illegal proceeds. This was reported by Sova, writes UNN.

The decision was made by Judge Irakli Khuskivadze. The court also found other defendants in the case guilty – former Deputy Minister Giorgi Khaindrava, the ex-minister's son-in-law Vasil Mkheidze, and former head of the Ministry of Defense procurement department Vladimir Gudushauri.
Burchuladze's property, including real estate in Spain and Georgia, was also confiscated, and he was banned from holding office for two years.
Sentences for other defendants
Giorgi Khaindrava was sentenced to 8 years in prison with a similar ban on holding office for two years. Vasil Mkheidze also received 8 years in prison, with the court confiscating material evidence in the case.

Regarding Vladimir Gudushauri, the court approved a procedural agreement: he received a 4-year suspended sentence, a fine of 10,000 lari, and a one-year ban on holding office. During the hearing, he pleaded guilty.
Burchuladze was charged with abuse of power and money laundering. The other defendants were accused of embezzlement of funds on a particularly large scale and complicity.
The verdict provides for a penalty ranging from 9 to 12 years of imprisonment.
