The truce between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for another three weeks after talks at the White House. This was announced by US President Donald Trump, UNN reports.

According to Trump, the decision was made after a meeting in the Oval Office with high-ranking officials from both countries.
The US will work with Lebanon to help it defend itself against "Hezbollah"

The US President also announced that he plans to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Washington in the near future.
Truce prerequisites
On April 16, Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. This was preceded by the first direct talks between the parties in over 30 years at the White House.

Before this, Israel had been striking positions of the "Hezbollah" group, which had been shelling Israeli territory amid the conflict with Iran.
Despite the announced truce, hostilities did not completely cease. Lebanon accused Israel of an airstrike that killed journalist Amal Khalil and injured another.
The Israeli side stated that it acted to ensure the safety of its military personnel.
The truce in Lebanon was also one of the points raised by Iran in its negotiations with the US.
