US Vice President J.D. Vance boarded Air Force Two en route to Islamabad, Pakistan, where he will lead important talks with the Iranians, UNN reports, citing CNN.
"We look forward to the talks. I think they will be positive," Vance told reporters on the tarmac before his departure. "As the President of the United States has said, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we are certainly willing to extend a hand to them. If they try to deceive us, they will find that the negotiating team is not very receptive to that."
Vance said Trump had given the negotiating team, which also includes special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, "clear instructions" for the talks, without elaborating.
"We will try to have positive negotiations. The President has given us pretty clear instructions and we will see what comes of it," Vance said.
