Details
According to the special service, a foreign citizen acted on the instructions of Russian handlers and was preparing to shoot a Ukrainian serviceman. He was detained "red-handed" during an attempt to commit the assassination.
As the investigation established, on the day of the attack, the killer took a position near the exit of the residential complex where the officer lives. He had a pistol with a silencer and loaded magazines with him.
The assailant, feigning bicycle repair, was waiting for the serviceman's car to appear. When the car approached, he threw his bicycle under the wheels and tried to open fire.

At that moment, he was detained by counterintelligence officers and special forces of the CSO "A", who had previously tracked the preparation of the crime and documented the agent's actions.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator was a 37-year-old resident of one of the Balkan countries, recruited by Russian special services. In February 2026, he arrived in Ukraine under the guise of a tourist, after which he went to Odesa to carry out the task.
Upon arrival, the agent received the coordinates of a cache, from where he took weapons and ammunition. He then tracked the route and locations of the potential victim and coordinated the details of the assassination with his handler.
For conspiracy, the assailant regularly changed rented accommodation and hotels in the city.
The detainee has currently been notified of suspicion under articles related to attempted terrorist act. He is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
